This Pen of the Year is inspired by the samurai, and this Black Edition is made from only the finest of materials. The painted black metal shaft resembles the beautifully-decorated armour made from individual metal plates. Delicate, tapered lines with 24-carat gold plating make the embellishment appear slightly embossed. The Japanese character for is engraved in the steel inlay of the cap. The end cap is adorned with a wave-like pattern and the symbol 'tsuba' (hand guard), designed by Miyamoto Musahi, whom the Japanese regard as having been the greatest swordsman of all time. The accent pieces are finished with an anthracite-grey PVD coating made from titanium.
